University of Galway Workshop

The University of Galway kindly hosted an event and workshop the three exoskeletons shown in the workshop expertly delivered in HAWK university. These were the Auxivo and the Bionic Back as well as the exoskeleton provided by Andre Juel from Stanley Handling.

Experts for various healthcare fields were invited including biomedical engineering, physiotherapy, manual handling as well as nursing. The topic of back injuries in healthcare was discussed along with the place in healthcare for use for passive exoskeletons. Presentations on these topics were given by Annika Dlugoszek (HAWK) and Andre Juel (Standley Handling)

The exoskeletons were then tried on in three rotating stages the attendees separated into three groups. In these groups each participant had the opportunity to try on the various exoskeleton and try different healthcare and mobility tasks e.g. moving a patient from sit to stand and repositioning of patient in their hospital bed.
